God's men in jail -- another update.
I haven't done my regular report on men of God who are spending time in jail. As usual I only report recent arrests. Of course it's not exhaustive, I'm sure I only see the tip of the iceberg.
Itsushi Ehara is a 73 year old Buddhist priest in Tokyo. He was arrested for paying a 15 year old girl to have sex with him. He blamed it on stress. Police say they believe he has done this several times.
Father James Hanely, 69, was arrested again. His previous arrest was for molestation. This time police say he he was threatend a man with a baseball bat.
Father Joseph Coonan, 58, has been charged with assaulting his mother and his sister. Coonan was living with his mother after being placed on administrative leave for sexual misconduct. Police say the priest was drinking during the recent incident.
Father George Silva of Raton, New Mexico was arrested for sexual misconduct. The incident apparently took place during a pilgrimage to Lourdes and Fatima.
Father Paul Clogan, of Marble Falls, Texas, was arrested after he fondled a teen age boy. The boy says he was sitting in a movie theater watching the film King Kong. The priest came in and sat beside the boy and reached over and grabbed his crotch. The boy left the theater and called the police.
Rev. Tim Evans, 43, of Fort Collins, Colorado has been arrested for numerous cases of molestation. It's in the news now because the arrest affidavitt has just been made public.
Kevin Williams, 41, was the minister of music for the New Bethel Baptist Church in Silsee, Texas. But police arrested him for strong arm rape of a child.
Rev. Eugene Marriot, 41, is the pastor of one the largest African Episcopal Methodist Churches in Maryland. His recent arrest revealed his secret life of group sex, bondage, whipping, spankings, and such. He had a mistress unknown to his wife. And even though he and she had broken up she had called Marriot for a date. On the date he became violent and raped her.
And just to show all things are not a one-way street we have the case of a criminal who became a reverend as opposed to a reverend who became a criminal. James Tramel, a convicted murderer, was recently released from prison. He went directly from jail to his new job as minister at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in West Berkeley, CA.

You can not base your belief on whether there is a God on how people who claim to believe in him act. Not all who claim to be a believer or a Christian really are. And furthermore, ALL people make mistakes. NO ONE is perfect. Not all Christians are judgmental. Not all of us choose to "condemn" the sinner. That is God's job. Some of us just prefer to show His love and tell the truth, and leave the rest up to God.The choice to believe is yours.

I don't think Nogodzone is trying to tell you all religious people are bad people. You are making a lot of noise over something very silly which isn't even there. (I do not mean God by that)
The sinner should not be condemned by humans at all, I do agree with you on that.
Anyway, this whole (Christian) celebacy-don't-even-jerk-off-policy, seems to have catastrofical results. The balls can't get their load off, and explode in their heads, creating such brain injurie, that the religious nutters commit these crimes. I'd suggest to da Vatican to install a strict atleast-once-a-week-ejectulation-rule, to prevent such terrible consequences.

Two points: I have never based my beliefs regarding theism on the basis of theists. I will point out that Christians, however, do exactly that all the time. All you need do is watch how often people testify that they found Jesus and changed how they lived. That is exactly the fallacy you mention. This post does not address the basis for belief but the hypocritical actions of Christians who, whether you do so or not, do condemn sinners all the time and then get caught in things like this. The concept of supernatural rises and falls entirely on the internal consistency of it or lack thereof.
Also note that you have made exactly the error you imagined I made. You say, "some of us jus prefer to show his love." But you don't by your own logic. You show your love which is not the same thing. If the bad Christians show their character and say nothing about the existence of god then the good Christians show their character as well and say nothing about god as well. You can't have it both ways. But then Christians do that all the time. A man doesn't get on a plane, it crashes, and he gushes about how god spared his life. Nothing about the hundreds that god supposedly would have then killed. Consistency!

Two points Pirate: First, I am rather surprised that at 6 you took the time to find out a person's views on theism. Secondly, you miss the point I am making. Atheists are people who lack a belief in a deity and that is all. They are not necessarily people who claim a moral superiority to others like ministers and priests, who claim to be in touch with a god and who say they speak on his behalf. If they didn't make this claim then I would not report on their hypocritical actions since they would be irrelevent.

Oh, c'mon. We're not going to place people in tiny little stereotypes just because their Christians, Atheists, Theists, (Gay?), whatever?
You guys are bigger than that. And the actions of the rotten, are not to be seen as regular deeds from the tree of all. The molestation by an Atheist, or the raping by a priest are not of any judgement over their fellowmen.

No I thought he was a minister but as I got older he changed his position on divine guidance.
I got your point and thought it spot on. But i agree with derreck on this. the title they claim is nothing more then the veneer of evil they hide behind.
